——————————————————————————————————

The Missoula Children’s Theatre returns to the Crystal Theatre to present a 5 day workshop and production of Sleeping Beauty –  a Rock ‘n Roll Fable for the ages.  There is no cost for students grades 1 – 12 to participate. They stretch their creativity and bravery muscles and go from auditions to performance in just one week!

The audition will be held on Monday August 16 at The Crystal Theatre. There are roles for up to 50 students entering 1st  through 12th grade this fall. Students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director. Registration will take place Monday morning at 9:00 – 9:45 am CDT. Students wishing to audition must be registered and in the auditorium by 10:00 am CDT and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 30 minutes after the audition. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.

This is a group audition-no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time! Rehearsals will be conducted every day from 10:00 to Noon and 12:30 to 2:30 in the Theatre and Stage Left at the Crystal Theatre. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. The performance will be held on Friday Aug. 20 at 7:00 at the historic Crystal Theatre.  Tickets will be available at the boxoffice. Admission $10/Adult, $5/Student.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and a public performance is presented Friday evening. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through participation in this unique, educational project.

MCT at Crystal Theatre is funded in part by a grant from Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) Copper Country Arts Council (CCAC).  For additional information please see www.TheCrystalTheatre.org, or reach out to info@CrystalTheatre.org, or call 906-875-3208.
